Friendship is a way to give your trust
to someone else and get it back in spades.
You’re giving not because you must
but generous and without accolades.

You help when needed without much ado
not asking for a proper payment back.
Your friend, of course, would do the same for you;
you give what’s needed so there is no lack.

Friendship is earned, you don’t get it for free.
Trust and understanding and your time
with effort and a lot of energy
are payment – you can’t pay with a dime.
