A promising pond

To a frog the pond’s the limit
for their offspring anyway
which will squirm and wiggle in it
until coming out one day.

Then the tiny frogs’ survival
is a daily landside chore.
Out-hopping every tiny rival
the stronger ones catch flies galore.

The pond as cradle helps some others,
like insects, spiders, dragonflies,
to develop daughters, brothers
often hidden in disguise.
